District leaders get down to business
The first day of school is about a month away and some Harlandale ISD leaders spent their first week getting back into the swing of things. After two days settling into their campuses, principals met with administrators for the annual Principals' Retreat at the Republic Golf Club conference room on Friday, July 27.
"Welcome back!" "How was your summer?" That expression and question were the most popular. The chatter and excitement consumed the meeting room early in the morning but then it was time to get down to business.
One by one, Cabinet members and administrators shared presentations, guidelines and information. The topics of discussion included bullying, food allergies, changes in meal patterns, types of transportation, and handling grievances.
HISD Athletics Director Rudy de Los Santos said it best, "We have to learn how to walk before we can run." That is exactly what the Principals' Retreat was all about - guiding all the leaders on the right path so that they can start trekking.
