Interns, mentors and parents gather to celebrate

What do you want to be when you grow up? Alyx Bermea wants to be an actress but after spending the last eight months working with the Harlandale ISD Communications Office, she thinks public relations or event planning may be the way to go.

That is the point of the Internship Program for students at the School for Leadership and Public Service at McCollum High. Dozens of them got to spend their senior year working in businesses across San Antonio like the Mayor’s Office, Day One Physical Therapy, Missiona Animal Hospital, RICOH Print Shop and schools across the district. Then, on May 1, all the interns and their parents got to sit down for dinner with the mentors. It was a special evening full of smiles, stories and well wishes.
