Some are right out of college and others have a few years of experience but all of them are new to the Harlandale ISD. As part of their welcome, they were greeted and treated to a fun-filled, information-packed New Teacher Orientation.
About 110 new teachers for campuses throughout the district met August 12 at the Boggess Center to familiarize themselves with HISD. The Human Resources Department hosted day one of the training which included a review of the employee handbook, insurance policies, incentives, Eduphoria, subfinder, technology and email. The orientation wasn’t all work though. New teachers were treated to a luncheon catered by Fuschak’s Barbecue and were able to mingle with School Board members, the Superintendent’s Cabinet and their school administrators.
There will be one more day of traning for new teachers. On August 13 they will learn all about classroom management from the Curriculum & Instruction Department.
