TWMS introduces the Science Corps

View more pictures

The Terrell Wells Middle School Drum line played cadences as guests filed into the school library for a special check presentation on October 8. Representative from the Marathon Oil Corporation and the LULAC National Education Service Center (LNESC) presented the school with $20,000 to start a new after school program to help raise interest and awareness in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The Science Corps Program will be a 30-week initiative where students will be exposed to subjects relating to physics, environmental science and energy, with many of these lessons being taught by experts in these fields. It is a reflection of Marathon Oil’s interest in helping students enter various science fields and LNESC’s mission to help increase the number of Latinos in those careers.
