More than 250 girls were recently pinned with the Girl Scouts seal, making them official members of the Gamma Sigma Pearls and Gamma Sigma Girls at Harlandale ISD.
The October 8 Investiture Ceremony at the Charles Boggess Center marked the beginning of year three of the female-empowering programs at all four middle schools and both high schools. By the number of girls and parents in attendance as well as the sound of cheers and clapping, it was obvious Pearls and Girls are needed, beloved and growing.
Harlandale’s own Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, Dr. Carol Harle, showed off her old sash filled with patches as she talked about how the Girl Scouts impacted her life. Carri Baker Wells, this year’s Trefoil Award recipient, provided an inspirational message, arming the young ladies with purpose, motivation and a sense of sisterhood.
