For the first time in nearly 50 years, the high schools in Harlandale ISD will have brand new band halls and field houses. You are invited to join in on the Grand Opening festivities Wednesday, September 12. Tour the new buildings at Harlandale High School beginning at 5:30 p.m. then mosey on over to McCollum High School where the opening ceremony takes place at 6:30 p.m. that same evening.
For the past year, the commissioning agent, Jasmine Engineering, has overseen the RVK Architecture Firm and general contractor Barlett Cocke as they erected all four buildings. Each one is state-of-the-art and a far cry from the current buildings. In size alone, they add about 26,000 square feet combined per campus.
The new field houses have spacious offices for the coaches and designated locker rooms for the different sports teams. There are new, huge workout rooms with new weight lifting equipment and the big meeting room can be sectioned off if needed.
The band halls have more than doubled in size. Now, there are soundproof rooms, practice rooms and offices. The main band hall has been designed to provide proper acoustic settings. Students will now have access to storage lockers for their instruments and a closet for their uniforms.
We hope you will join us September 12 to celebrate the openings of these new buildings and see them for yourself.
