The tallies are in and the winners have been chosen for this year’s Cultural Arts Festival. Johnny M. Maldonado, Jennifer Zamora and Dennis Saldivar, all of IBC Bank, sat at the corner of Roosevelt and March streets to judge every single school walking group, spirit group, band, vehicle and float. The winners are:

Best Elementary Spirit Group: Gilbert ES Mustang Cheerleaders

Best High School Spirit Group: McCollum HS Tri-C’s

Best Elementary Music Group: Morrill ES Drum Line

Best Middle School Music Group: Kingsborough MS Band

Best High School Music Group: McCollum HS Band

Best Elementary Walking Group: TIE—Carroll Bell ES & Gilbert ES Patrols

Best Middle School Walking Group: Kingsborough MS Athletics

Best High School Walking Group: McCollum HS Softball

Best Elementary Vehicle: Wright ES Teacher of the Year

Best Middle School Vehicle: Harlandale MS Teacher of the Year

Best High School Vehicle: McCollum HS Counselors

Best Elementary School Float: Vestal ES

Best Middle School Float: Kingsborough MS Student Council

At Harlandale Memorial Stadium, different judges walked around picking the winners for another set of awards, Best Decorated Game and Food Booth. This year the honors go to:

Best Game Booth: Dunking Booth by Scheh Center

Best Decorated Food Booth: Corn Dogs by MHS Life Skills
