It is a gift. Some call it true talent. You could also refer to it as the X-factor. Any way you describe it, two students were recently recognized for having “it.”
McCollum High School freshman Paula Cortez was surprised Thursday when a camera crew from WOAI-TV showed up to present her with a special award. The 14-year-old was voted as the Best Local Singer in the station’s Best of San Antonio awards. All nominees are posted online, then, it’s up to viewers to log on and vote for their favorite.
A former Harlandale High School student earned national recognition Thursday night when she performed on “The X Factor.” Twenty-two year old Jessica Espinoza wowed the judges with her performance of Pink’s “Nobody Knows.” She received nothing but applause and praise even from lead judge Simon Cowell who said, “I don’t like you. I love you. I love everything about you...You sang for your life.”
Congratulations to both young ladies!
