Mickey and Minnie Mouse were making kids laugh and play but they were not at one of their own theme parks. Disney’s most popular couple was part of Dia de la Familia at Harlandale High School on Saturday, February 16.
The annual event is sponsored by Southside United Against a Violent Environment (SUAVE) to provide families with crucial information. This year’s focus was on college and career. In addition to exhibits from several county, city, and health departments, three guest speakers shared their success stories. Cris Perez from Port San Antonio, as well as Virginia Narvaez and Claudia Pilar with Community First Health Plans, told parents and their teenagers all about where they grew up, what they did after high school and how they choose their careers. Meantime, younger aged children got to take part in some arts and crafts and play games.
