The varsity softball teams from Harlandale and McCollum high schools had a busy weekend as they each faced off with several teams throughout a three day tournament that began February 21 at the Frank Tejeda Stadium.
The lady Indians faced Hondo first and fell 4-2. The Cowboys fought hard against the Pleasanton Eagles but couldn’t get on the scoreboard. They lost 2-0. Fortunately for both teams their luck turned around on Friday. McCollum put a hurting on Kennedy, 19-0, and Harlandale edged by Brennan, 6-4. The Cowboys and Indians went on to face each other Saturday and it was a close one but McCollum slid by Harlandale, 2-1. The Cowboys ended up playing Highlands for the Consolation Game and shut out the Owls 13-0.
Pleasanton took home the tournament championship and South San came in second.
