One of the largest universities in the country opened its doors to all visitors over the weekend and more than 100 of them were from the Harlandale ISD. Eighty-eight students and 21 staff members from Gilbert Elementary headed to Austin Saturday, March 2 to Explore UT.
The University of Texas hosts the biggest open house in the state every year to help students, parents and community members experience all it has to offer. Gilbert students were able to tour parts of the 40-acre plus campus, run on the football field and even march with the award-winning Longhorn band.
This is the second year Gilbert takes part in the event and, just like last year, all students came home with a smile and their horns up.
