BPA students headed to Nationals

The McCollum High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) team won big at the State Leadership Conference in Houston on March 2. Here is the list of winners:

1st Place
Juan Valuenzela-Fundamentals of Word Processing

Tulsi Patel, Corina Ventura, Stephanie Lopez, and Amanda Dortman-Video Production Team

2nd Place
Antonio Paredes-Advanced Accounting

Eduardo Gonzalez-Fundamental Accounting

4th Place
Jonathan Gonzales-Fundamentals of Web Design

Corina Ventura-Desktop Publishing
Brianda Ortiz-Fundamentals of Word Processing

5th Place
Christopher Casso-Keyboarding Production

These students have qualified for the national competition in Orlando, Florida May 8-12.

Several other teams also placed at the state level but will not advance to nationals. They are:

Jackelyn Ocura-Fundamental Accounting

Eusebio Mata-Computer Security

Harlandale High School also participated in the state finals with Stephanie Esparza, Savannah De La Garza, and Rubi Garcia on the Presentation Management Team, and Aurthur Lerma in the PC Troubleshooting & Repair competition. Both teams placed but did not meet the cutoff for nationals.
