Prospective teachers hopeful for Harlandale

Some students at the University of Texas at San Antonio are hoping to find a job with Harlandale ISD. Dozens of prospective teachers lined up in the Educational Career Center to meet with representatives from HISD.

“We typically have one long line that waits for us, and we are ready for it,” said Diana Tudyk, Elementary Coordinator for Human Resources. “One thing we are hearing over and over again from student teachers is that they hear nothing but good things about Harlandale so they want to stand in our line. It’s been great.”

One applicant, Jessica Elizondo in the graduate program at UTSA, had her turn speaking with Harlandale coordinators. “I thought Harlandale would be a good district to work with and they just made the district seem very welcoming.”

HISD prides itself in hiring highly qualified teachers and is always looking to add to its database of prospects. The UTSA Job Fair is just one of several taking place throughout the spring. Other job fairs can be found here. Be sure to check with the host to determine if the recruiting event is open to the public.
