The Harlandale ISD Board of Trustees took a few minutes Monday night to recognize the schools and departments who contributed most to this year’s Harlandale Education Foundation Employee Fund Drive. At stake were bragging rights and the hefty HEF College Cup trophy.
The Frank Tejeda Academy won in the Small Campus category, raising more than $1,500; Gillette Elementary raised $2,225 and won in the Medium Campus category; and McCollum captured the Large Campus category for the second year in a row with $3,865.
There are only four employees in the Superintendent’s Office but they managed to raise $756 for HEF; Human Resources won in the Medium Department category, contributing $1,485; and Curriculum & Instruction’s $4,635 got them the win in the Large Department.
One school and several departments were recognized for having 100% participation in this year’s HEF Employee Fund Drive. They were:
o Frank Tejeda Academy
o Purchasing & Warehouse Department
o Communications Office
o Superintendent’s Office
HISD employees raised a total of $43,706.96 for the Harlandale Education Foundation and it will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a friend of the districts. All proceeds go directly toward $1,200 or $625 scholarships for graduates who pursue a higher education.
