About 30 members of McCollum High School’s Gamma Sigma Girls headed north along I-35 yesterday to learn all about Baylor University, visit the State Capitol and have a little fun.
While at the Home of the Bears on April 17, the girls got to tour the campus, shop in the bookstore, have lunch in one of the dining halls and meet with students. They also took part in great Baylor traditions, learning how to do the Bear Claw by curving all five fingers slightly inward and cheering.
The group, traveling with sponsors Miriam Hernandez, Annie Lopez, Suzanne Salinas, and Michelle Tallon, then drove to Austin to meet up with State Representative Joe Farias. They took a guided tour of the state Capitol, took pictures on the House floor and learned a lot about politics.
To round out the day, the girls stopped by the new Buc-ee’s in New Braunfels to buy some goodies.
