The McCollum and Harlandale High School boys’ varsity baseball teams are heading to the playoffs. The Cowboys finished in second place in District 29-4A and will play a two-out-of-three-game series against Gregory Portland. The first game will be at the Frank Tejeda complex Thursday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. Game two will be in Gregory Portland Saturday, May 4 at noon. The HHS Indians finished in third place and will face Victoria East Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Park Baseball Stadium, 476 McCright Drive, in Victoria.
McCollum High School senior Bobby Garza placed second in the long jump at the Regional Track Meet Friday, April 26. His finish qualified him for the upcoming State Track Meet. It will take place May 10-11 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas at Austin. Tickets can be purchased at the door, $10 for adults or $6 for students.
Two Harlandale High School students also placed at the Regional Track Meet at Heroes Stadium this past weekend. Cristina Lopez finished in 5th place in discus and Adres Garcia took 6th place in shot put.
