Maybe it was the cooler than normal temperatures or maybe it was the giving spirit, but combined they made for one hugely successful Harlandale Relay for Life. About 500 people, some from district schools and others from around the community, turned out May 3 to walk around the Harlandale Memorial Stadium track and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Together they helped exceed the $52,000 goal.
The all night event included more than just spins around the track. There were also student performances, live music, dancing, games, and barbecuing. Additionally, there was a special drawing for some homemade cancer quilts. Claudia Sosa, Clerk in Purchasing Department, and Maria Medellin and Tony Vaughn from Harlandale MS won them.
