You could tell just by looking at the crowd. The comeback of the Math Fiesta at Harlandale High School was the campus’ most successful event of the school year. More than 1,000 people showed up May 18 and that was before it even kicked off at noon. The crowd remained steady all day, mainly because of all the activities available to students and their families.
There was a life-sized version of the game Jenga, and just when onlookers would start shaking their heads in amazement of the growing wooden structure, the whole thing would come crashing down. Then, Angry Birds were brought to life, sort of. Kids could shoot large stuffed pillows with a giant slingshot. There were several miniature golf areas in the courtyard and inside the cafeteria were tables and booths with all things numbers and math.
