Rocky Briseño has a lot to celebrate. He and his fellow Harlandale High School seniors will graduate June 14 and, even more exciting, Rocky signed his national letter of intent to attend Angelina College in Lufkin and play basketball for the Roadrunners.
Rocky was surrounded by family, friends and teammates on May 22nd as he sat at a table to sign the letter. Coach Chris Adamek reflected on Rocky’s high school basketball years, calling him a young man who is dedicated to his sport and school. Rocky scored more than 1,400 points during his three years on the varsity team and helped the team win 26 games this season alone, the most since 1962.
“It’s just a great opportunity for him. It is something he has worked so hard for and for the past four years this has been his passion,” say Maria Briseño, Rocky’s mother.
