Martha Sanchez, Bilingual Teacher at Bellaire Elementary, said she will remember her kids’ fascination when she jokingly told them she was turning 100 years old; Fred Garza, Executive Director for Human Resources, said what he has enjoyed most was being part of the team at Harlandale High School when it was named an Exemplary campus; and Oralia Luna, Cook at Wright Elementary, says she is looking forward to sleeping in late, eating out and going to casinos.

Those were just some of the sentiments shared at a special ceremony on May 21st at the Boggess Center. All 2012-2013 retirees as well as employees who have reached a milestone year (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40) were honored for their service, dedication and commitment. Each retiree was presented with a plaque by Superintendent Rey Madrigal and then congratulated by School Board President Jesse “Jay” Alaniz, Vice President Juan Mancha and Member David Abundis. Employees received a pin with the number of years served and a special stone.
