Career & Technology Education (CTE) students from Harlandale and McCollum high schools received a special invitation to the National NOMAR Leadership Conference on September 3. As part of their involvement, 150 juniors and seniors got the chance to tour Mission San Jose and meet with various government agencies about possible career opportunities. They spent part of their day at the Omni Hotel, listening to speakers and networking. Five of the students also received scholarships for college.
According to its website, the National Organization for Mexican American Rights (NOMAR) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization committed to improving educational and employment opportunities for and defending the civil rights of Hispanic Americans.
