Nearly 20 students from Leal and Harlandale middle schools as well as Harlandale High School were chosen to be part of the 2013-2014 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee. They met with Mr. Rey Madrigal for the first time on September 10th and they had a lot to say.
An 8th grader asked the Superintendent why cursive writing is not emphasized in their language arts classes; another middle schooler wanted to know when he could join baseball; and an outspoken high school student inquired when his school would have a “green zone” where they could use cell phones. Mr. Madrigal as well as Cabinet members on hand helped answer all the questions.
Students from Kingsborough and Terrell Wells middle schools as well as McCollum High School and the Frank Tejeda Academy will meet with the Superintendent on October 8th.
