Mark your calendar. On Tuesday, October 1, you and your family are invited to head out for National Night Out. This is the 30th year of the annual event and Southside United Against a Violent Environment (SUAVE) along with the Harlandale ISD would like you to be part of the festivities at the Harlandale Memorial Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m.
More than 30 organizations from across San Antonio will be on hand with important information for families. There will also be free food and drinks, live entertainment, skits, speeches from political dignitaries and community activists, a cars show, games for children and prizes for a lucky few.
National Night Out “America’s Night Out Against Crime” began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized to fight back. The National Association of Town Watch is a non-profit organization that established National Night Out and continues to work with communities in the building of relationships between community members and local law officials.
