An afternoon of fun is in store October 19th for Harlandale schoolchildren who have received their immunizations and well-child physical exams.
Free games, snacks, drinks, a drawing and family friendly movie are planned during the event, called "Harlandale Healthy Heroes." Activities run from 2-5 p.m. at Columbia Heights Elementary School, 1610 Fitch Ave., in San Antonio. Superior Health plan, Aetna Better Health, Community First, Amerigroup , Molina, MCNA Dental, HHSC , Maximus and the Texas Department of State Health Services have partnered with Southside United Against a Violent Environment (S.U.A.V.E.) and Harlandale Independent School District.
"We want to reward families for getting their children’s' exams and shots. The event also is designed to help educate families about the importance of preventative healthcare," said Albert Arriaga, President of S.U.A.V.E.
The event is open to families whose children received a well-child exam, Texas Health Steps or Adolescent Well Child exam in 2013. Families must bring a postcard that has been verified with a stamp from their doctor's office. This can be the signature stamp or the return address stamp. The postcard is the ticket to the event.
