Eight leaders from Harlandale ISD recently became the center of attention while at a conference in Austin. Superintendent Rey Madrigal, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Dr. Carol Harle, Assessment Coordinator Patty Dauphine, Harlandale High School Principal Fred Anthony, Bellaire Principal Leticia Cerda-Rodriguez as well as Harlandale Middle School’s Principal Katherine Pena, Assistant Principal Libby Stewart and Science Teacher Brenda Hawkins attended the Advancing Improvement in Education (AIE) Conference September 24-26. Together they presented to more than 100 other educators from across Texas.
One of the best practices implemented across HISD and shared at the conference was the creation of Portable Mini Data Walls, a tool used to make data practical and personal for a campus. The data walls allow each school to breakdown their test scores, identify areas in need of improvement and develop plans to address any shortcomings.
The HISD cohort received a big round of applause and several educators stopped by afterward, asking more questions about data wall creation and implementation. Many shared their enthusiasm and eagerness to “starts this on Monday with my staff.”
