Seniors still have several months to decide what they want to do after high school, but Jacquelyn Espinoza already made her decision. On November 19, the Harlandale High School softball player signed her letter of intent to attend and play for Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi,
“I feel great and they have a great softball program. They [Mississippi Valley State] have won 8 out of the last 10 years [in softball]. They saw me at a tournament and invited me to the campus. I visited the school this past Thursday and Friday [November 14 & 15] before I made my decision,” said Jacquelyn.
When she finally put pen to paper, the tears started flowing as her parents, Richard and Lori Espinoza, looked on.
“It’s bittersweet. We’re excited, it’s her dream to go away and play for an A1 softball team, but she’s not going to be right around the corner so it’s exciting and a little bit sad. We will be making lots of trips to go and visit her,” said Jacquelyn’s mother.
