The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) at McCollum High School received a special visit from one of the Harlandale ISD Board trustees on December 11. Christine Carrillo stopped by during their monthly Command and Staff/Leader meeting to witness how they conduct business. JROTC members discuss several issues, including the morale and well-being of the battalion, leadership challenges, drill meets, military science and history, service learning projects, and command and staff functions.

“The cadets are nothing short of professionals who will lead us into the future,” said Carrillo.

The JROTC program is working to surpass today’s challenges and meet the program’s motto, “Motivating young people to be better citizens”.

McCollum’s JRTOC is led by Sergeant Major (SGM) Tyrone Wright and Master Sergeant (MSG) David Burgess.
