Imagine writing a story about your hero and then meeting that person face to face. That is exactly what happened to Sarah Acuche.
As part of a classroom assignment, the Morrill Elementary School third grader recently wrote a story about Dr. Carmen Tafolla, a local author and San Antonio’s first poet laureate. Then, on December 20, Sarah got to meet Dr. Tafolla. The meeting was set up by Dr. Carmen Jaramillo, Sarah’s Pre-k teacher.
“I am good friends with Dr.Tafolla and I asked her if she would be interested in meeting her [Sarah] and she was happy with the idea,” said Dr. Jaramillo.
The student and author talked for more than an hour and then Dr. Tafolla gave her an autographed version of her book, “That’s Not Fair. No Es Justo. Emma Temayuca’s Struggle for Justice.”
