Harlandale ISD honors Hall of Fame inductees

Surrounded by friends and family members, Harlandale ISD’s 2016 Hall of Fame inductees gathered at McCollum High School for a special dinner on Nov. 3.

The Hall of Fame banquet honored Harlandale HS alumni Julie Gimbel and Juan Mancha, McCollum HS alumni Gregory Edwards and Daniel Farias, as well as community service inductee Rudy De los Santos.

The night kicked-off with appetizers provided by the McCollum HS culinary arts department, followed by a performance from Mariachi Flor de Jalisco and dinner catered by Don Pedros Mexican Restaurant.

Superintendent Rey Madrigal, Board of Trustees President Erma Casarez and Hall of Fame Board President Ruben Tejeda each delivered a special message and congratulated the honorees before the awards presentation.

Each honoree was introduced via a special video produced by the McCollum High School Cowboy Productions team. After the presentation, each inductee accepted their award and spoke about their time at Harlandale ISD.

The night wrapped up with cookies for dessert and congratulatory hugs.

Inductees will be presented to the community at Harlandale Memorial Stadium prior to the Frontier Bowl. The game will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. and the Hall of Fame Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Harlandale ISD began honoring its distinguished alumni and community supporters in 1985 and has since inducted more than 200 people to its Hall of Fame.
