Harlandale HS celebrates Decision Day

A total of 185 Harlandale High School seniors proudly proclaimed their post-secondary plans in front of their peers and parents in honor of Decision Day on April 24. This is an increase from last year’s count of 130.

The event serves as an effort to build up a college-going culture at the high school. Juniors filled the gym bleachers to cheer on the seniors.

“For juniors, it is motivation for what’s to come next year for them,” Harlandale HS College Advisor Julia Cottle said. “We use it as inspiration as well for what they can achieve since their peers were able to do it in the year before.”

Decision Day serves as an example and goal for next year’s graduating class, but it’s also a time to celebrate the seniors who reached that milestone.

“This is a celebration for seniors to recognize their commitment to college and the armed forces,” Cottle said. “We want to recognize their hard work and dedication throughout senior year because we know it’s not easy.”

The Mighty Million Dollar Band from Indian Land and the Harlandale High School Cheerleaders were on hand to pump up the crowd.

Seniors proudly wore their college shirts and waived their college signs, but when the Million Dollar Band from Indian Land played the War Change, they all showed loyalty to their high school family.

Congrats Indians!
