HISD students take advantage of HHS College and Career Fair

Harlandale High School hosted a College and Career Fair for students and the community on Nov. 30.

Local companies and colleges traveled to the Harlandale HS campus to help students make the right career decisions. Companies like McDonald's, USAA and Spa d’ Sante answered questions from students who were eager to know more!

Other HISD programs such as Cowboy Productions, culinary, theatre arts, STEM and many more came to highlight their programs to students and their parents.

“We were really excited to have an event like this on campus,” Harlandale CTE Counselor Chris Lewis said. “It’s a great way to showcase not only all of our programs, but to tie in businesses in the community with some of the career pathways that we have here.”

Students and parents also lined up to speak to representatives from different colleges. Texas State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Our Lady of the Lake were just a few of many colleges that attended in hopes to showcase what they have to offer.

“The College and Career Fair is a good way to steer our students toward making a decision, whether it be getting a certification through one of our programs or preparing for college,” Lewis added. “Or better yet, if they are certified, they can be working while they go to college. There are just so many possibilities here in Harlandale ISD, it just continues to amaze me!”
