Jewel Wietzel Center students celebrate USAA holiday party (1)

Employees from USAA visited the Jewel Wietzel Center to spread holiday cheer on Dec. 15.

As part of the annual tradition, USAA brightened spirits with gifts and a special visit from Santa.

Wietzel students sang Christmas carols and performed the play “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Jewel Wietzel Center has three different special education programs, but for this special occasion each program came together and prepared for this celebration. Staff and students decorated the gym, made ornaments for the Christmas tree and students rehearsed for the play that they presented!

Jewel Wietzel Center Principal Jennifer Bernal-Tamaren looks forward to this special event every year.

“I think this celebration really shows our community that all our students can come together and work together to create something beautiful,” Bernal-Tamaren said.

USAA employee Nick Nordvall  enjoys giving presents to their ‘Season of Sharing’ program and was very excited to actually go to the campus this year and see how excited all the students were.

“As an employee who just came out of the Navy, I’m glad I can serve in a different way at USAA,” Nordvall said. “It makes me feel really good to be a part of a company that gets involved and to give these students a great Christmas.”
