Harlandale ISD counselors continuously go above and beyond to support students and families with academics, social, emotional and college readiness guidance and growth.

As a way to express a heartfelt appreciation, Student Support Services Coordinator Deborah Hernandez hosted luncheon for all 39 district counselors on Feb. 13

“Counselors are important for many reasons,” Hernandez said. “We provide comprehensive curriculum supporting individual planning, responsive services, guidance and system supports to all students equally.”

Prior to the luncheon, the counselors attended a grief training. They learned extensive skills to promote healing through the use of art expressions with students that have experienced loss or trauma. Additionally, they learned more skills to utilize mindfulness techniques with students in their small group and guidance lessons.

Superintendent Rey Madrigal also expressed his appreciation for our counselors.

“Our counselors help students achieve success, connect with colleges and universities, and plan their careers,” Madrigal said. “We are very privileged to be surrounded by such dedicated and committed educators.”

He urged others to join him in saying, “School Counselors, we appreciate you!”
