Harlandale ISD’s heart of gold was once again palpable during this year’s Harlandale Education Foundation Fund Drive.

District staff raised a record $65,587.05 from Feb. 7 through Feb. 21. A private donor matched dollar for dollar, bringing the total up to $131,174.10.

All of the funds raised will go straight to scholarships for Harlandale ISD seniors.

As a token of appreciation, all Harlandale ISD campuses and departments received a ‘thank you’ cake on Friday.

Harlandale ISD Superintendent Rey Madrigal will be doing a barbecue for McCollum High School for having the highest average donation weighted by the highest campus participation. Congrats, Cowboys!

Madrigal will also be doing sausage wraps for Stonewall Flanders Elementary for having the highest donation increase from last year. Way to go, Falcons!

At the end of the drive, employees also won prizes from a random drawing. Prices included an Americus Diamond necklace, a TV, Spurs tickets, Schlitterbahn tickets, VISA gift cards, a Fit Bit, Google Minis, gift cards to local restaurants and other awesome prizes.

Harlandale ISD extends a sincere thank you for everyone’s support of the Harlandale Education Foundation and Harlandale ISD students.

The campuses and department that raised the highest amounts this year will be recognized at the next school board meeting taking place at Kingsborough MS on March 19 at 6:15 p.m.
