Evelyn Bushart receives KENS 5 Excel Award

KENS 5 and Credit Human representatives surprised Rayburn Elementary Teacher Evelyn Bushart Tuesday morning with the 2018 EXCEL Award and a $1,000 check for her excellence in education.

Superintendent Rey Madrigal, Rayburn ES Principal Faith Molina and district officials were present to personally congratulate Bushart.

“We are fortunate for KENS 5 to be recognizing one of our great teachers, Evelyn Bushart,” Madrigal said. “We are real proud of her, and we celebrate this recognition with her.”

The dual language teacher was selected for going above and beyond in the classroom and making a difference in her students’ lives.

“I feel humbled and grateful to be recognized to receive the EXCEL Award,” Bushart said. “It symbolizes how having a passion and dedication for doing what you love will not go unseen and will positively impact my life and those around me.”

Bushart has been teaching at Rayburn Elementary for three years and has also taken on several leadership roles, including grade level lead for first grade, PTA president, campus science facilitator and member of CPERC.

She is grateful to have the opportunity to be a positive influence on her students, parents, colleagues and community.

“My dream of becoming a teacher became a reality when I was hired by the Harlandale district,” Bushart added. “I walk into my classroom each day knowing that I can change the lives of my students and be a guiding light to them for their education.”

Bushart will be featured during a segment on KENS 5 on March 29 at 6 p.m.,  March 30 at 9 a.m. (Great Day SA) and March 31 at 7:30 a.m.

Congratulations, Ms. Bushart!
