Jazmin Baltazar signs with joliet Junior College

Harlandale High School senior Jazmin Baltazar signed her letter of intent to play soccer at Joliet Junior College on April 9.

The talented forward celebrated her milestone surrounded by her mom, sister, administrators, coaches, friends and teammates at the school’s Student Union.

“Jaz is one of our great scorers, we’re very proud of her,” Coach Anna Castro said. “She has been a part of three district championships between her sophomore and senior year, which is a big accomplishment, and she’s continued to do a tremendous job of leading by example.”

Jazmin finished her high school career with a total of 145 goals, making her the top three scorer in girls soccer history in San Antonio. She also holds the fourth spot in the city for single-season goals with 63 in 2017.

Coach Sonia Marin also congratulated Jazmin and applauded her for being a leader in and out of the soccer field.

“Thank you Jazmin for all your hard work and dedication,” Coach Marin said. “I know you’re going to go and make us proud in Illinois, we wish you the best of luck.”

For Jazmin, the opportunity to play soccer at a higher level is a dream come true.

“I’ve been playing since I was four years old, so this means a lot. I’m very excited,” she said. “I also want to thank my teammates for helping me score because I couldn’t have done it without them!”

Congratulations, Jazmin!
