Give More HUGS donates books to Adams Elementary

In an effort to inspire students to develop a lifelong love for reading, nonprofit organization Give More HUGS (Helping, Unite, Giving, Souls) donated more than 900 books to Adams Elementary on May 11.

Give More HUGS Ambassador Tiffany Baltierra was happy to personally hand out the books to the students in the school’s library and remind them about the importance of reading. The children left with big smiles as they received their brand-new book.

“Give More HUGS believes a passion for books and reading can be developed at an early age, so we are here to donate a book to every student here on campus,” she said.

Students were happy to discover that inside every book there was an inspirational message handwritten by the person who donated the book. One of the messages read, “Dear student, books are important. They allow you to dream. Love, a friend.”

This is the second time Baltierra visits Harlandale ISD and hopes to be able to donate more books in the future.

“This is a huge school, this is bigger than what we did last time, but I think the challenge is good, there’s more students to serve,” she said. “It’s always so exciting because students are so appreciative, and we hope they feel inspired to read more.”
