KONO 101 recognizes Gillette teacher

Alejandra Campista, a dual language teacher at Gillette Elementary School, was named KONO 101.1’s “Featured Teacher of the Week.”

Radio personalities Dave Rios and Steven Sellers appeared at the school Tuesday morning to recognize Campista, who was nominated by a parent of a student she taught last year.

“Everything she did for my daughter was very helpful, and she did it from the heart,” Parent Natalia Maldonado said.

To celebrate, Rios and Sellers were also joined by KONO 101.1’s mascot, Top Dog. Together, they all sang and read a book to Gillette’s kindergarten students. The station also donated a $101 gift card for the school’s library.

In addition, Rios recorded the students reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance” and aired the audio recording several times during his morning radio show the following day.

“I’m really happy! I love my students, and I love teaching here,” Mrs. Campista said. “I want to thank my team, Ms. Jasso and Ms. Gimbel for always supporting us all the time.”

Congratulations, Mrs. Campista!
