McCollum Band wins big at Harlandale Marching Festival

The McCollum Band earned first place at the Harlandale Marching Festival held at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 6. This is the band’s second first place win this season.

The band’s percussion section and color guard also earned first place at the festival, which marks McCollum’s percussion fourth win in a row at this contest!

The band festival featured a total of 16 high school bands. As the festival’s host, the Harlandale High School Band kicked off the competition with a fantastic exhibition performance.

Then, the McCollum Band competed in Class 5A and wowed the crowd with their performance!

“Our students work very hard to put on a great performance. They push every week to achieve excellence,” McCollum HS Director of Percussion John Perez said. “Every rehearsal is treated like a performance. The students always look for new ways to improve themselves.”

Perez thanks all the wonderful parents and supportive administration team for all their hard work and efforts.

“We have success because of their support and contribution to the McCollum Band program!” he said.

The Band is under the direction of Gilbert Borrego, Perez and Celeste Castro. The color guard instructors are Jeremy Contreras and Ronald Burton.

Congratulations, Cowboy Band!
