The Believe It Foundation recently donated 14 new adaptive bikes to our district in an effort to promote the inclusion of physically challenged children in our community.

“We are so proud of our relationship with the Believe It Foundation,” Harlandale ISD Special Education Director Della Taylor said. “We feel excited, and I’m just so happy for the kids and the community. It’s a blessing.”

Students from all grade levels with differing abilities will be using the new bikes this school year during recess time, bike rodeos, Cultural Arts Parade and during PE as an addition to the curriculum. The Partners in PE buddies will also have the opportunity to coach the students with special needs while they ride the bikes and gain social experiences from each other while working as a team.

“It is going to be awesome,” Harlandale ISD Adaptive PE Coordinator William McGinnis said. “Every school that has a life skills unit will have a bike, so they’re going to be able to use these bikes more on campus.”

The Believe It Foundation also recently a partnered with Harlandale ISD to host a Community Bike and Sports Day last fall. Watch the video below to see how our district and the foundation joined forces to promote inclusion in the community.
