Rayburn News Crew to be features on News 4 SA

Rayburn Elementary School’s News Crew will be featured in WOAI NBC News Channel 4 San Antonio.

News 4 Anchor David Chancellor recently stopped by the campus to watch the talented group of students in action while they filmed their live broadcast in the library.

Every morning, Rayburn News Crew members share information about what is happening at their school to their fellow students, as well as health tips, weather, lunch menu items and fun exercises. As members of the school’s Kids School Health Advisory Council (KSHAC) program, they also strive to promote a healthy lifestyle on campus.

Chancellor was so impressed with how the kids worked together that he even asked for their autograph.

Third-grader Elizabeth Segura, one of the co-anchors, told Chancellor that she decided to join the News Crew because she hopes to be a television anchor one day.

“I watch the news every morning with my grandma, and I thought, maybe I could that that too,” she said. “It’s very fun.”

Elizabeth added that even when the crew make mistakes, they always support each other.

“We believe in each other and tell each other that we can do it,” she said. “The best part about being in News Crew is that I can meet people that I haven’t met make a lot of friends.”

The segment called “Go Public with David Chancellor” is scheduled to air on Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. on News 4 San Antonio.

Way to go, Rayburn News Crew!
