HHS Decision Day brings excitement to college-bound seniors

HHS Decision Day 2019

Loud cheers and excitement filled the Harlandale High School gymnasium during the school’s annual College Decision Day on April 25.

Harlandale HS Principal Alfred Anthony kicked off the event by congratulating the seniors on taking the next step in their academic journey. More than 150 Harlandale HS seniors proudly proclaimed their higher education plans before their parents, administrators, teachers and fellow classmates.

Every year, the event celebrates the students’ success and their commitment to continuing their higher education after high school.

College representatives from various institutions, including San Antonio College, Palo Alto College, Our Lady of the Lake University and UT Austin, attended the event to congratulate and welcome their future students. The ceremony also recognized the graduates who enlisted in the military.

Harlandale HS Class of 2019 Valedictorian D’Ago Morales-Ferrari is ready to begin his new chapter at Texas A&M University next fall.

“Sharing my college decision was exciting,” D’Ago said. “I also feel relieved. I’m going to major in history with a minor in philosophy with a focus in pre-law, so I’m ready!”

Several lucky seniors also received a gift basket filled with college essentials for their dorm rooms.

HHS Counselor Denise Flores was proud to see the students happy and determined to achieve their academic goals.

“Today, we are rewarding the graduates for their hard work,” she said. “It is an opportunity for seniors to show their family members, community and friends that no matter where you came from, you too can make your dreams a reality.”

Way to go, Harlandale Indians!
