The Jewel Wietzel Center (JWC) honored its students, staff and business partners during the 2019 Transition Program Graduation Recognition, HOPS Exit Ceremony and Community Partner Appreciation Banquet on May 23.

Students who completed the HOPS Program and those who are graduating this year, as well as the students of the year, received a certificate of achievement from their teacher in front of their peers, teachers, administrators, friends and families.

JWC Principal Jennifer Bernal-Tamaren was overwhelmed with emotion seeing her students celebrate their achievements.

“They have grown so much, and watching them grow when they’re with us really touches my heart,” Tamaren said. “Everyone can see that they are capable of anything, and there are truly no limits and no boundaries for what our students can achieve.”

The event also featured several videos highlighting all the work and training the students have accomplished throughout the school year at different Harlandale ISD campuses.

After the student recognitions, school principals and representatives from local business partners, including Chick-fil-A and Biblioteque, were also recognized with an honorary plaque for supporting the students.

“We are just so proud of them. Some of our students get employment, some go on to vocational training, and others graduate from the transition program. After all the struggles they overcome, the fact that they can achieve this is monumental. At the JWC, we love them like if they are a part of our own families,” Bernal-Tamaren concluded.

Congratulations, JWC!
