Avance Pre-K 4 students at Adams Elementary enjoyed a morning full of the holiday spirit on Dec. 8.

The library was transformed into a train stop as students handed over their tickets and boarded a train constructed by teachers. Once they boarded the train, students were in for a real treat as they watched the Polar Express.

According to Avance Pre-K 4 teacher Richard Garcia, who dubbed as the train conductor, the activity was a great way to teach students about diversity.

“We’re currently teaching the children the different types of cultures that they need to accept, some children believe in Santa Clause while others don’t, so we’re teaching them about different types of tradition and this was the perfect way to have the kids get excited about it,” he explained. “The Polar Express is all about imagination, about dreaming, about believing in certain things and so it is tying it all in.”

In true conductor fashion, Garcia sported a top hat, a suit and a stick-on mustache. Some youngsters sported Santa hats and they all let their imaginations soar.
