Harlandale Bridging Committee celebrates CTE Month

Harlandale Bridging Committee celebrate CTE Month.

The Career and Technology Education (CTE) Department decided to kick-off CTE Month by hosting a Bridging Committee Industry Advisory Meeting at McCollum High School on Feb. 7.

Harlandale ISD high school educators and local industry leaders attended the meeting, which included San Antonio Sheriff’s Department representatives, firefighters, emergency technicians, a McDonald’s owner, a Texas State Technical College employee and USAA Real Estate agents.

The Harlandale Bridging Committee was established to create a platform for teachers and industry partners to collaborate.

The meeting discussed different CTE events going on during the month of February such as SA Works Job Shadow Day participation, field trips to post-secondary institutions and business sites, as well as different guest speakers attending schools.

“Strengthening and developing this amazing network allows students that opportunity to reach beyond just the classroom,” Harlandale Bridging Committee Chairman Ray Garza said. “We hope to continue growing and building our committee so that our students can succeed and achieve their goals.”
