Leal Middle School student leaders from IMPACT, Girl Scouts, and Student Council took a trip to the San Jose Nursing Home on Dec. 18 to interact with the residents and deliver the handmade gifts that were made last week. This day was called our LMS Day of Service.

While at the nursing home, students played games such as Hearts, Connect Four, and checkers.  Residents also had the opportunity to get a manicure from some of the seventh and eigth grade students.  At the end of the two hours, students went around to all the rooms to deliver the Christmas cards, poinsettias, and ornaments made by Leal MS students.

“The residents were so happy to spend time with us, that they asked when we were coming back to visit,” Leal MS IMPACT Sponsor Olivia Robison said.

The Leal student organizations plan to host a campus fundraiser for the nursing home in February.  All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards buying more games, word searches, coloring books, crayons, and manicure supplies for the residents to enjoy.
