Members of the Cyber Patriots Club at McCollum High School attended the eighth annual San Antonio Mayor’s Cyber Cup Awards Luncheon at the Bexar County Community Arenas on March 24.

“Students were celebrated for participating in the Cyber Patriots program, an Air Force sponsored program that teaches students how to secure networks and analyze computer networking problems, which are valuable skills for 21st century computer networks,” MHS CTE Teacher Scott Lancon said.

The students also had the opportunity to hear Mayor Ron Nirenberg speak and meet university officials for computer related degree fields, agents from the FBI and NSA, and Air Force representatives from the 24th and 25th Air Force groups which specialize in cyber security and intelligence gathering, in addition to other computer related businesses in attendance.

“Students learned about the importance of cyber security to the nation's future and how their training can lead to success later in life,” Lancon concluded.
