McCollum’s defensive back leads state in interceptions

It is not every day that you can call yourself one of the best
in Texas when it comes to high school football. McCollum’s
Steven Retana has earned that title after his play during the
first four weeks of the high school football season.
Retana, a senior defensive back for the Cowboys, leads
the State of Texas in interceptions. He has earned four
interceptions this season in four games and none bigger than
last week’s interception against a 6’10 Clark High School wide
receiver. Retana is a four year letterman and a three year
starter for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys and their top defensive back take on San Marcos
this Friday at Harlandale Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for
7:30 p.m.
