Parent Advisory Committee kicks-off

Superintendent Rey Madrigal met with parents from across the district to host the first Parent Advisory Committee meeting of the school year on Oct.6.

Every year, each campus principal selects two parents to represent their school. These delegates are responsible for bringing forward any questions, concerns and good news from their child’s campus.

Madrigal will meet with the committee six times throughout the school year. The first meeting consisted of introductions, an update on district news and questions from parents.

Gillette parent Jennifer Clark, who is also a counselor at the campus, is excited to be a part of the committee this year.

“I love listening to all of the insight that Mr. Madrigal has to share,” Clark said. “I am super excited for my kids, right now they are elementary students at Gillette, and eventually I want them at STEM so that they can partake in all of the benefits the district has.”

Clark is a McCollum High School graduate and appreciates that the district plays an instrumental role in helping students figure what they want to become. She’s looking forward to spreading the knowledge she gains from the meetings with all of her students and parents at Gillette.
