Parenting classes continue in HISD

Harlandale ISD understands that raising a child is no easy task, which is why the district has continued to implement parenting classes.

Parenting Wisely is a 7 week class, which meets once a week, at College Café and at the Sosa Center.  The classes are offered in English and Spanish.  Through these classes, parents learn about a series of topics that promote active listening and assertive discipline.

A total of 19 parents graduated from the parenting classes on Nov.10.  Each parent received a certificate of completion and a congratulatory gift.

The program is made possible through a partnership between HISD and BCFS Health and Human Services.

The next set of parenting classes, Parenting Wisely: The Teen Years, will begin in January 2017.  The classes will be available for parents and caregivers of teens between the age of10 and 17. Classes will be available in English and Spanish. For registration or information, contact Ruth Zambrano at (210) 989 – 4482.
